Changelog
7 November 2026
- Nine new calculators: family shareholder split, umbrella company take-home, sole trader tax with payments on account, sole trader vs limited company, pension through your company, inside IR35 rate, director’s loan and s455, mileage allowance, and late payment interest. New rate data for each, sourced on the methodology page.
- Engine fix: income tax on the director’s salary now uses the personal allowance after the £100,000 taper on salary plus dividends. Results above about £600 a day are a little lower than before and now correct.
- Engine fix: a salary larger than the company can afford is capped at what is left after expenses and pension, so the dividend vs salary sweep no longer prefers an impossible salary at low revenue.
- Every 2026/27 figure checked against its gov.uk page. Class 2 weekly rate corrected to £3.65. Student loan thresholds recorded (Plan 1 £26,900, Plan 2 £29,385, Plan 4 £33,795, Plan 5 £25,000, Postgraduate £21,000) but not yet used in any calculator.
- Added the 2025/26 rate file so last year's figures can be reproduced. Dividend rates were 8.75% and 33.75% that year.
- Six guides, methodology, privacy, cookies, terms and author pages.
